With children 10 and under, the healing work of talk therapy takes the form of play. Children enact/re-enact their trauma and anxieties in their play. Using art, sand, toys and imaginative play, my work with young children entails creating a safe, attentive, non-judgemental place for children to explore their own fears, anxiety and anger.
Oftentimes this "alternate space" where there is no expectation or demands, is sufficient for children to find comfort and healing.
During a developmental stage where life is emotional and conflictual, my work with teens entails offering them a positive, neutral, non-judgmental space for self-exploration, decision making, value examination and healing.
Working a facilitator, consultant, and mentor, I role play scenarios, ask questions, do self-exploratory exercises that build self-esteem and social skills. Oftentimes this space of unconditional positive regard is sufficient for identity formation and trauma recovery.

Children and Teens
You are the bows
from which your children
as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark
upon the path of the infinite,
and He bends you with His might
that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand
be for gladness;
For even as He loves the arrow that flies,
so He loves also the bow that is stable.
